Gifted youngsters in celebration concert

YOUNG musicians from Chard and Crewkerne took part in the fifth annual Chics Celebration Concert in Yeovil.

The event was organised by Chics Music, the in-house music service for 33 schools, and the programme was specially selected for quality items featuring youngsters from, among others, Holyrood School in Chard and from Crewkerne's Wadham School and Maiden Beech Middle School.

Head teacher at Maiden Beech, John Broad, who is also co-ordinator for Chics music, said the event at The Gateway centre in Yeovil was an outstanding success.

"This event is more than an extraordinary musical cavalcade by students," he said. "It's a terrific demonstration of the abilities of the Chics music tutors - excellent tuition gets brilliant performances and the evidence was quite clear."
