Top comedian comes to Chard

EXCITING young comedian Russell Howard is headlining the second Chard Comedy Monthly event at the town's Guildhall tonight (Wednesday).

The Bristol-based comic started his career aged 19 when he reached the final of Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny competition and has since become one of the hottest names on the stand-up circuit.

He is a regular on BBC 2's topical panel show Mock The Week and has also made appearances on Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Live At The Apollo.

Famed for his improvisational skills, Russell made Zoo magazine's top 10 list of Britain's funniest comics and was nominated for an if.comeddie award in 2006 for his Edinburgh show, Wandering.

In November 2006, he took over Russell Brand's radio slot on BBC 6 Music, which he co-hosts with comic Jon Richardson, and last year sold out venues across the UK on three nationwide tours.

Joining Russell onstage will be fellow Bristol comedian Mark Oliver and resident host Craig Campbell.

Doors open at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 and are available in advance from Chard Tourist Information Centre.
