AT the most recent Colourists art group meeting at the Minster Rooms, Ilminster, over 40 members and visitors welcomed Paul Weaver from Bristol.
Paul is a talented water colourist, who trained and worked in graphic design before taking the plunge and becoming a full time artists four years ago. He explained how he did small sketches on the spot and then completed the picture in the studio. Working on near vertical watercolour paper, he demonstrated his technique of working loosely wet into wet and produced an impressionist style painting of a Bristol street market scene, and a townscape on a wet day.
Long-serving club secretary Joy Holmes stepped down. Without her there would be no Colourists as it was her efforts that started the club. She will be a hard act to follow. There was a vote of thanks to Joy and she was presented with a bouquet and life membership.
