THE April meeting opened with prayers by Elizabeth Harris, and Joan Thomas played the piano for the hymn.

Lydia Munday introduced Claire Duncan, a reader at Ilminster, and a driving instructor. Claire told how her life had changed direction several times. She spent a year in Uganda after teacher training college, and then taught in state schools. However, she became disillusioned with teaching and trained to become a driving instructor.

Eight years ago she moved to Ilminster where she has continued to train new drivers. She also felt called to become a reader. She would like to travel more in the future, possibly revisiting Uganda. She was thanked by Elizabeth Harris.

Notices included the invitation to the May lunch, which will be held on May 21 at 12.30pm, with a bring a buy sale. Members are requested to let Elizabeth know if they are coming. Numbers are needed for catering purposes and the meeting then ended with refreshments.

The next Holy Communion service will be held this Wednesday, May 7, at 9.30am in St Peter's Church.
