THE April meeting opened with prayers by Elizabeth Harris, and Joan Thomas played the piano for the hymn.
Lydia Munday introduced Claire Duncan, a reader at Ilminster, and a driving instructor. Claire told how her life had changed direction several times. She spent a year in Uganda after teacher training college, and then taught in state schools. However, she became disillusioned with teaching and trained to become a driving instructor.
Eight years ago she moved to Ilminster where she has continued to train new drivers. She also felt called to become a reader. She would like to travel more in the future, possibly revisiting Uganda. She was thanked by Elizabeth Harris.
