TWO fire engines were mobilised last night after reports of a kitchen fire at a home in Touchstone Lane, Chard.
The alarm was raised at 8.15pm and on arrival the crews requested an ambulance for one woman who was suffering from smoke inhalation.
A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire was out on arrival extinguished by the occupier.
"The cause of the fire was accidental which resulted in slight fire damage to the cooker and smoke damage to the first floor and the rest of the property."
But the spokesman added: "Smoke detectors were fitted but did not activate due to being faulty.
"Our officeres advised the owner of the property to replace the detectors with new ones."
