UPDATE: Road still closed after lorry overturns

THE A303 near Buckland St Mary is still closed both ways this evening due to an overturned lorry which has spilled its contents across the road.

The lorry, which was carrying pallets, overturned between Eagle Cross and Stopgate Cross shortly after 12.30pm.

Fire officers and paramedics were called to the scene to rescue the driver, who was believed to be trapped in the vehicle.

No other vehicle is understood to have been involved.

Police say the road will remain closed while the recovery operation takes place.
