5:10pm Tuesday 23rd December 2008 in Chard By Richard Purdon
CRESTA welcomed Father Christmas to Chard as part of the Active Kidz day today (Tuesday).
Following a fine tradition of giving parents a break and letting children run off some energy before Christmas, Michelle Down and the staff at CRESTA Leisure Centre offered a free, three-hour play session from 10am to 1pm.
Over 30 children enjoyed a morning of playing games, dancing and building castles out of Kev Wood’s Easybricks. With Father Christmas making an appearance and mince pies all round, the day was a great success.
Sports Development co-ordinator, Michelle Down, said: “Everybody is having a really good time, it gives the kids a chance to run around and play together in a safe, supervised environment so parents can get a bit of last minute Christmas shopping done!”
Michelle and the team have already been hard at work planning the Active Kidz sessions over the February half term. The action-packed timetable for children aged from five to 14 years includes boat making, face painting, bug hunting and plenty of sports too.
The Active Kidz sessions will run from 10am to 4pm, from Monday, February 16 to Friday, February 20, and cost just £5.30 for a morning or afternoon session. Before then, CRESTA will also be offering their usual term-time fitness options, as well as Salsa dancing classes for over 16s every Wednesday, beginning January 7. For details and booking, contact CRESTA on 01460-64084.
