A LOCAL butcher has celebrated its 20th birthday with a visit to Parliament to receive prizes at the Food Farming Awards 2008.

Complete Meats, which has shops in Chard, Axminster and Honiton, picked up awards in the Taste of Excellence and Food and Farming Retailer of the Year categories.

And the timing couldn’t be better for the local business as the awards dinner at the House of Commons coincided with its 20th birthday on Friday, December 5.

Owner Shaun Vining said: “We were delighted to even be short-listed and then to be award winners was such a great birthday present for the business – I am very proud of our achievements.”

The 2008 Food Farming Awards were sponsored and judged by a panel of experts from Marks and Spencer who sampled a range of products from farming-based businesses across the UK.
