A WOMAN was glassed in a disturbance at a Chard pub in the early hours of Sunday.
Police have arrested a man in connection with the incident and are appealing for witnesses to the attack which happened outside the Choughs Hotel in the High Street at about 2am.
A police spokesman said: “The female victim was stood in the pub’s outside beer garden in the smoking area and had been talking to the suspect.
“An argument then started and after an altercation the suspect is alleged to have hit the victim in the face with a glass.”
The victim was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton for treatment.
Police confirmed that a man in his 20s had been arrested on suspicion of assault. He has since been re-leased on police bail, pending further inquiries.
The police spokesman added: “We believe there were other people in the area at the time of the incident who may have witnessed this and could have some useful information to help our enquiries.”
