POPPY APPEAL: Fundraising bingo night planned

Comments (0)FUNDS for this year’s Poppy Appeal will be boosted this month with a prize bingo evening at the Guildhall in Chard.
The event, on Friday, November 14, with doors opening at 6.30pm and ‘eyes down’ at 7pm, has been organised by Cllrs Andy and Jenny Kenton, with support from Cllr Jill Shortland.
Andy said: “My father fought in the Second World War and was a proud member of the British Legion. He worked hard to raise money for the Legion and for that reason I am proud to help such a worthy cause.
“The Legion support veterans of all wars, not forgetting those injured in recent conflicts such as in Afghanistan and Iraq.”
They would now like to hear from local businesses or individuals who would be kind enough to donate prizes for the night. They have already received some prizes along with money from Cllr Shortland’s community budget from Somerset County Council.
