Wanted: a new home for Taz

8:20am Thursday 21st February 2008

WORKERS at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, near Chard, are desperately trying to find a home for a dog that needs some extra care and attention.

Taz, a seven year-old Giant Schnauzer, has been at the animal rescue centre for the past three years as staff members struggle to find a perfect owner for him.

Head of kennels Katie Hagerty explained: "He's a very loveable dog but needs a particular type of owner.

"We wouldn't recommend housing him somewhere with children or other animals - although teenagers are fine.

"He's very playful and incredibly strong so he needs someone who could handle him."

Katie said that although many people have come to look at him, they have not been able to find the right match yet.

"Taz gets on with 99% of people but has been known to nip on occasion, which has put a lot of prospective owners off," she explained.

"Ideally we need someone with experience of handling larger dogs with a big enclosed garden for Taz to run around in.

"He walks very nicely on the lead and with some careful socialisation he may be able to be walked with other dogs," she added.

"He's a lovely, friendly dog that just needs the right home."

If you think you might be the right owner for Taz contact Ferne Animal Sanctuary on 01460-65214.
