A MURDER inquiry has been launched in Chard following the death of a 53-year-old man.
Raymond Page died at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol on Sunday as a result of serious head in-juries sustained in an alleged assault at an ad-dress in Chesterfield, off Avishayes Road, Chard, a week before.
As a result of police inquiries, five men - two aged 23 and two aged 19 - and a 19-year-old woman were all arrested. A third 19-year-old man has not been arrested, as previously stated by the police.
All five have been given conditional police bail pending further inquiries.
A police spokesman told the News yesterday that officers were continuing their inquiries into what had now become a murder investigation.
Mr Page suffered serious head injuries in the incident which saw police called to a property in Chesterfield at 3.40am on Sunday, February 10.
He was initially taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton but later transferred to Frenchay Hospital where he died on Sunday.
