CHARD Town Football Club's match at Bitton had to be called off on Saturday after a number of their players and management were involved in a car accident on the way.
Two cars, both containing members of the club's travelling party, were in collision near the entrance to the Royal Bath and West Showground near Shepton Mallet.
None of the seven occupants was seriously injured but some of them suffered neck and back problems.
The vehicles involved were too badly damaged to continue the journey and after consultation with Toolstation League officials, it was agreed to postpone the match at Bitton, to the south east of Bristol.
Chard manager Stu Parris, who was driving one of the cars, said everyone had been "shaken up".
He said: "Nobody was in any real shape to carry on to get to the match. It could have been much more serious."
It was the latest twist in the Robins' difficult season, as they currently lie one place from the bottom of the Toolstation League Premier Division after 23 defeats in 29 games.
