Man attacked in Chard

POLICE in Chard are appealing for information after a man was assaulted on Furnham Road in the town on Sunday afternoon.

The 25-year-old victim was walking with his bicycle along Furnham Road, near to the Focus DIY store, at 3pm when he was set upon by two males.

The offenders attacked the victim and hit him around the head, before making off. The victim suffered minor head and facial injuries as a result of the attack.

One of the offenders was then involved in a collision with a red Ford Escort car as he made off from the scene.

The offender was not injured, but police are keen to speak to the driver of the car as it is thought he may have important information regarding the attack.

Two local males, aged 25 and 15 years, have been arrested in connection with the attack and have been given police bail pending further enquiries.
