ORGANISERS are hoping for a big turnout for a discussion on Council Tax at Chard Guildhall today (Wednesday).
Chard councillor and leader of Somerset County Council Jill Shortland will be a guest speaker at a public meeting organised by the Chard, Ilminster and Crewkerne Pensioners Forum.
The meeting about council tax will take place from 10.30am and is free to attend.
South Somerset District Council's portfolio holder for finance, revenues and support services, Cllr Paull Robathan, will also be in attendance and they will be summarising details of the council tax charges for 2008-09.
Meeting organiser Colin Cant said: "Following their presentations, there will be an opportunity for people to ask questions on this important subject which affects everyone who is liable to pay this controversial tax."
The Pensioners' Forum's Danice Jackson added that the group was non-political but provided a co-ordinated and collective voice' to promote welfare, interests and opportunities for older people living in Chard, Ilminster and Crewkerne area.
