5:03pm Monday 4th February 2008 in Chard By Steve Sowden
VOLUNTEERS at the award-winning Chard Museum are looking for people who can remember the Swinging Sixties.
The museum is hoping to put together an exhibition of 1960s costumes and other memorabilia later this year.
Already Chard's very own rock and roll street cleaner Alan Horne has been able to provide a couple of his colourful suits, plus some of the many cups he won for his jiving.
But the museum's Barbara Dillon said: "We want to include other items from the 1960s in the display as well, so if anyone has anything we could borrow we would very much like to hear from them.
"As well as clothing of the time we would like to include other memorabilia related to the 1960s such as pictures, posters, toys and accessories. An electric guitar would certainly add authenticity!"
And Barbara added: "If anyone can help we would be delighted to hear from them. If people are reluctant to part with any pictures or photographs we can make copies, with their permission, and let them have the originals back." If you think you can help Chard Museum in its plans to recreate the Swinging Sixties later this year please contact either Dee Manley on 01460-62168 or Barbara Dillon on 01460-64017.
