A FORMER pupil of Chard's Holyrood Community School is asking for help to send his daughter for treatment to help her talk for the first time.
Dave Willcocks and his wife Esme are raising money to send four-year-old Rose, who was born with a genetic abnormality which means she has never been able to talk, to a specialist learning centre in America.
Dave and Esme, who now live in Bishop's Stortford, have been given hope that their daughter may speak after a visit to a farm earlier this year where she was said to be talking to the animals.
They hope with treatment Rose, who is the only known person in the world to suffer from the condition, will be able to talk to them for the first time.
A website to help raise money and awareness has been launched with details of fundraising events being held to raise the £15,000 needed for the trip.
