THE heavy rainfall over the last few months has caused St Margaret's Somerset Hospice a real problem with their fundraising activities.
With only 19 per cent of the funding needed to cover the costs of their service coming from the NHS, the hospice relies heavily on fundraising to maintain its unique service.
But this summer's bad weather has seen some of the charity's most profitable fundraising events affected or cancelled because of the rain.
And the hospice's director of nursing, Ann Lee, said: "The poor weather has affected our fundraising activities significantly and at the end of our first quarter we have recorded a deficit of £100,000 against our anticipated income."
