Butchers helps customers go green

A CHARD butchers is doing its bit for the environment with a special green competition.

On August 22, the first 75 customers to spend £10 at branches of Complete Meats, including in Fore Street, Chard, will receive a free long-life jute carrier bag.

Jute, also known as hessian or burlap, is a natural fibre mainly grown in the sub-continent using traditional, near organic methods.

The bags, which are seen as the green alternative to plastic, will thereafter be on sale for £1.50.
