TEAMS for the first Tour of Britain race to go through Somerset were announced this week.
The race comes to the area on September 11 where Somerset County Council will be hosting the South West stage of the UK's leading cycle race.
The council will be hosting Stage 2, which is said to be the toughest and most beautiful.
Cyclists will then move on through the West Midlands, the North West and Yorkshire before finishing in Glasgow on Saturday September15, when the competitors would have covered 950 kilometres.
The 16 teams include five British teams, and three of the teams that took part in this year's Tour de France.
Justin Robinson, deputy leader of Somerset County Council said: "Somerset County Council is delighted to hear that these excellent teams will be competing, which will create a fascinating and nail-biting spectacle for all to enjoy."
