12:44pm Friday 3rd August 2007 in Chard By Joanna Glover
AN EVENT to encourage improvements to Chard Skate Park is being held at the site in Henson park on Saturday August 18.
Youngsters will be highlighting the need for improvements at the park including lighting and equipment.
BMX riders and skaters will be putting on competitions, a BBQ and showing a DVD they made themselves to show the park is a good investment and what improvements are needed.
All skaters and bikers can take part in the event, which also includes open skates and rides.
The event, Static Skate and Ride, will take place from 11am-3.30pm, with portable ramps also available at the Multi Use Games Area.
Richard Passmore, Chard detached youth worker for the project said: "This event is to celebrate the completion of the video made with the young people, at the end it will be presented to council with a presentation on the need for lights and upgrading the park, we really hope someone from the council will attend and the young peoples hard work will be rewarded."
