HUNDREDS of Chard residents braved the freezing weather to view the grand turn-on of the town's Christmas lights last night.
At 7pm residents cheered in front of The Guildhall on Fore Street as a festive display of colourful lights burst into life.
Before the switch-on, The Guildhall was filled to the brim with shoppers who grabbed some last minute Christmas gifts and Fore Street was bustling with visitors who enjoyed a variety of fun activities and attractions.
After the switch-on, children rushed into the Guildhall and met Father Christmas and took home a present to put under the tree ready for Christmas day.
