TRAIN passengers experienced a full day of delays at Taunton Railway Station. 

Cross Country and Great Western Railway trains were being cancelled or diverted after a road vehicle crashed into a bridge further up the track on Thursday morning (July 13).

The incident occured around 9am and delays were in place through to the evening. 

Train tickets were being accepted on bus routes. 

The update from National Rail said: "A vehicle has struck a bridge between Yatton and Nailsea & Backwell, causing structural damage.

"As a result of this, trains between Taunton and Bristol Temple Meads may be delayed by up to 40 minutes, cancelled or where possible diverted via Westbury."

CrossCountry customers can use Great Western Railway services via any reasonable route.
