EMERGENCY services were rushed to a property in Chard after reports of someone falling through a roof.

A fire engine, the ambulance service and police were all called to attend an incident in Combe Street at around 5.30pm yesterday (July 9).

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset fire and rescue service said: "A fire engine from Chard was sent to a property at the above location following a report from the Ambulance Service of a young male that had fallen through the roof and was injured inside the building.

"Crews used a triple extension ladder and small tools to gain access to the property and assisted ambulance crews to move the casualty."

The casualty was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

The ambulance hazardous area response team (HART) and police were also in attendance.

A spokesman for the SouthWestern Ambulacne Service said they received a call at 5.11pm.

There was one male casualty with a head injury and possible fractured arm.

Two rapid response vehicles, one ambulance, the Hazardous Area Response Team and the air ambulance was all sent to the scene.

Casualty was flown to Bristol Children’s Hospital for treatment.
