THE FAMILY of a “generous” and “kind-hearted” Chard man have paid tribute after he passed away recently.

Nigel Farley, 35, died at his home in Henson Park on Monday, April 17.

His funeral service will be held at South Chard Church on Thursday from at 1pm, followed by a wake. The family want to extend a warm invitation to anyone who would like to attend.

Anita Crossley, Nigel’s mum, said: “When Nigel passed away he left a hole in our family. He was the most generous, kind hearted son that a mother could ever wish for.

“He always saw life as an adventure, and even in the difficult times he was able to bring a smile to my face. We will always miss him.”

The family and South Chard Church are raising money to pay for the funeral directors bills and for Nigel’s headstone. The church has agreed to do the funeral for free. So far the family has raised £1,847 towards the £3,200 target.

Anita added: “I am so touched by the generously of the community and I want to thank everyone who has shown us support at this sad time. Nigel will never be forgotten.”

Jenny Reid, from South Chard Church, said: “Nigel loved Chard town. He made so many friends there and the high street was like his second home.

“It seemed fitting therefore for the funeral procession to make its way through the town en-route to the service, between noon and 12.30pm. Those who cannot make the funeral will be able to say their goodbyes as he passes.

“To those who knew him he was a kind, compassionate man with a cheeky sense of humour. In the face of immense adversity he retained his good character until the end and he never failed to put a smile on your face.

“Here's to you Nigel Farley - I know you are having fun up there with Jesus.

“Nigel Farley tragically passed away after a long and difficult battle. We are looking to raise funds to contribute towards his funeral and we hope that this will help ease some of the pressures for the family at this difficult time.

“Nigel was a valued member of the community and his caring nature touched many lives. He has a unique way of bringing laughter into even the darkest situation. He will be greatly missed.

“Please feel free to show your support to the family, any contribution would be greatly appreciated.”
