FIRE crews rushed to a bungalow in Chard last night after a cooker went up in flames.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene in Millfield shortly after 8pm yesterday (April 5) after reports of fire alarms going off.

One fire engine from Chard was sent to the semi-detached bungalow and on arrival firefighters confirmed there was a fire within the cooker.

Firefighters moved the cooker and its contents outside.

There was fire damage to the cooker and food products within the property and smoke damage to the bungalow.

Crews used a CO2 monitor and naturally ventilated the property.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
