DO YOU  want to sharpen up on your marketing skills and take your business to the next level?

By applying and giving back some of your newly learnt skills, you can take part in a three day marketing training course delivered by Lynda Wookey of The Business Greenhouse and organised by South Somerset District Council (SSDC).

SSDC wants to work with a group of ambitious business owners in Chard that want proactive business support delivered in the community.

The project is a new and innovative way of working with businesses as well as helping to promote the Chard Business Hub.

The pilot project will help you develop your marketing skills and ability to implement them for the benefit of your business.

In return, the authority would like you to use your skills to help it launch the Chard Business Hub that will enable businesses in and around the area to thrive, flourish and grow.

The three day course will consist of marketing coaching, training and facilitated ‘doing’.

You will cover the development of a marketing strategy, understand the key marketing tools and techniques, including social media, and learn how to implement the techniques with effect.

During your time on the course, we will enable you to put your skills and knowledge into action to help with the marketing of the new business hub and also your business.

You will have the skills and knowledge required to market your business more successfully.

Councillor Carol Goodall, chairman for the Chard Business Hub project said: “The marketing project will enable keen local businesses to develop some new marketing skills whilst also helping to help launch the Chard Business Hub.

"Working on this project will be a challenge, but the benefits gained for both you and the Business Hub will help to boost the local economy.”

Councillor Jo Roundell Greene, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development said: “Giving local businesses the opportunity for their staff to learn new skills will benefit the local economy.

"At the same time, it will help support the Chard Business Hub. Good marketing skills are an essential part of business today and I am delighted that we can offer this three-day course in the new Hub to support our local business community.

The workshops will run on Wednesday March 1, March 8 and 15.

Attendees will have to commit to all three workshops and to working together with others in order to produce and implement the marketing strategy for the new hub.

It is likely that participants will need to work on the project outside of the workshop hours in order to meet the goal of marketing the centre.

All three workshops are free to attend, but limited to six spaces.
