AN ELDERLY man has been hospitalised after a crash on Fore Street in Chard.

Emergency services were called to Fore Street near the junction with Boden Street after a car was reported to have crashed into a wall.

Police and an ambulance were called to the scene at around 1.45pm.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said: "We were called at 1.44pm. A vehicle has collided with the wall.

"The road isn't obstructed and the vehicle is being recovered. A man has sustained some injury."

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 1.46pm to the incident involving one car.

"An elderly male, who we believe to be in his 70s, has sustained an injury to his arm.

"The man has been transported to Musgrove Park Hospital to receive further treatment."
