MORE than £5,500 has been raised by residents of Chard for a hair-loss charity.
The event was organised by Sarah Jones of Phoenix Hotel in Fore Street and saw hotel staff and members of the public get their heads and beards shaved to raise money for Alopecia UK.
Sarah Jones said: “It was fantastic.
“We also had a Leicester City shirt that finished on eBay yesterday and has topped up the total to £5,500.
“It has been absolutely crazy.
“The people of Chard have been so generous it is unbelievable. The confidence it has given my son has been so great to see.”
If people want to add to the donations that have already been made, there is a collection tin in the Phoenix pub and hotel.
