AN AIR ambulance was called to Chard Rugby Club yesterday after a man suffered cuts and bruises in a nearby street.

Devon Air Ambulance's Exeter aircraft was called out to the incident at 6.18pm on Thursday, May 12.

A spokesman for the air ambulance service said: "We were called to a medical emergency and the patient was an adult male.

"He was treated on the scene and then taken to Musgrove Park Hospital by land ambulance."

The air ambulance arrived at around 6.55pm, and then left at 7.15pm.

South Western Ambulance Service said they were called to an incident in Boden Street, Chard, at 6.20pm where a man had suffered cuts and bruises, including bleeding from his face.

It is not known how the man suffered the injuries.

A spokesman for Chard Rugby Club said: "Somebody was taken ill in a nearby street.

"One of our coaches was doing some work on the pitch and was able to help the air ambulance and show them where the emergency was.

"From all the club, we hope that they have a speedy recovery."
