A WOMAN was cut out of a car following an early-morning crash near Chard.

Emergency services were called to the incident at 2.41am today when a car flipped and rolled on to its side on Howley Road, Howley, near Chard.

Firefighters from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service cut out one person from the car, and administered first aid.

The woman was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital, but it is not thought that her injuries are serious.

Fire crews from Chard and Axminster made the vehicle and scene safe.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 2.41am this morning to a single vehicle collision in which a car rolled over.

"Police and fire service also attended.

"One woman was trapped inside the vehicle, and was cut out by firefighters.

"It appears that she only has minor injuries, but was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital."
