A DATE has been set for Chard to elect a new town councillor.
The election follows the resignation of Cllr Brennie Halse from her position representing Holyrood Ward of earlier this month due to personal issues.
Chard town clerk Zoe Truong said: "Following the resignation of Cllr Brennie Halse there will now be a by election for a new councillor for Holyrood Ward in Chard.
"The date has been set for Tuesday June 7, 2016.
"If anyone is interested in standing as a candidate in this election they will need to visit the South Somerset District Council website – click on Elections and Voting and follow the links for the Chard Town Council By Election.
"Copies of the Nomination Papers can also be obtained from The Guildhall, Chard. Nominations need to be received at SSDC by Tuesday May 10, 2016."
