CHARD Camera Club exists to foster enjoyment, appreciation and learning the art and techniques of photography.

The camera club is affiliated with the Western Counties Photographic Federation.

It welcomes members of all abilities. It offers a mixture of tuition and competition.

The club's work is regularly exhibited in the Chard Library as well as the Chard Guildhall and images are on permanent loan to the Chard Tawstock Health Centre.

The club holds meetings during 10 months of the year in the Baptist Church Hall Holyrood Street, from April to March with a break during July and August.

During the club’s calendar the club holds competition evenings which consist of special subjects and open prints and digital projected images (DPIs).

Each member is free to enter one subject print, one open print and, for DPIs, one subject DPI and one open DPI.

Meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays in the month, during which times the club hosts competitions, presentations, talks and instructional evenings.

The club also has inter-club competitions and annual outings such as mystery, walking and roving trips.

The club is involved in a variety of WCPF – or Western Counties Photographic Federation – competitions.

Other seasonal events also occur.

Anyone wishing to show interest in joining the club can do so by turning up on one of the evenings where they will be made most welcome and will be invited to attend a further evening before being asked to join the other members fully.
