A HOLLYWOOD star visited a care home in Chard recently to delivery Easter presents to its residents.

A Minion character, made famous by the Despicable Me films, visited Sunnymeade Care Home in Helliers Close, Chard.

Tina Barton, who is the current care home manager, said: "It went very well. It was a very good event and all the residents seemed to really enjoy it.

"It is something that we want to do as much as we can is bringing more social interaction for people who can't get out in the town as much."

The bright yellow Disney character also brought chocolate Easter eggs and flowers as festive gifts to the residents.

Sunnymeade Care Home had a Care Quality Commission inspection in February which rated it as good.

The report said: "People were cared for by staff who were extremely kind and caring. Comments from people and our own observations showed staff treated people with respect and dignity at all times."

A visiting relative had said “Kindness goes such a long way and they really do show kindness. It gives us great peace of mind to know they are being so well looked after.”

The report added: "People told us staff often went the extra mile to make sure they received the care and support they needed.

"One person told us “I can’t fault anything. The way they speak to you and treat you is beyond any standard I have ever encountered"."
