CHARD and Ilminster are both due to avoid the rain today as much of the South West is set to get wet.

In their South West summary, Met Office said: "Cold start, with perhaps some frost or ice in rural areas, but some areas of cloud with patchy rain to begin with.

"Dry and sunny conditions will spread in by the afternoon, except in the far southwest."

The maximum temperature is set to reach around 8°C, before falling to a minimum of 1°C overnight.

Tomorrow's forecast said: "Cloud and showers tending to clear, with sunny spells but perhaps still showers around coastal areas."

The maximum temperature is due to rise to 9°C.
