A COLD start to Chard and Ilminster's day is set to give way to a cold and cloudy afternoon.

This evening rain is predicted to start between 8pm and 9pm, lasting through the night and into the early hours of Tuesday morning.

In their South West summary, Met Office said: "Away from the far west it'll be a cold and frosty start and there may be some fog patches in the east.

"A dry and bright day will follow, although cloud will move in from the west through the afternoon."

The maximum temperature is set to reach around 9°C, before falling to a minimum of 4°C overnight.

In tomorrow's forecast, it said: "The rain will soon clear eastern parts and then it'll be a fairly cloudy, breezy, day with sunny spells and scattered, blustery, showers.

"Milder, but feeling chilly in the wind."

The temperature is set to peak at around 11°C.
