SUNSHINE and rain is on the menu today, with this morning's bright but breezy start giving way to heavy rain from 4pm.

In their South West summary, Met Office said: "Today will be dry for most, with some sunny intervals at times, especially this morning.

"Cloud may thicken during the day as rain approaches from the southwest later."

Temperatures are set to peak at around 13°C, before falling to 12°C overnight.

In tomorrow's forecast, it said: "After a cloudy start, further outbreaks of rain will affect most on Tuesday, with some heavy downpours over the hills.

"By afternoon clearer spells will develop as winds become gusty."

The maximum temperature is due to reach around 15°C.

In travel news, roads are mostly clear in the Chard and Ilminster area, with some traffic build up on the A358 up towards the M5 junction 25.
