THIS year’s Chard Children’s Carnival will take place on Saturday, October 3, assembling at around 10am at Manor Court Primary School, with judging 10.45am and the procession at midday.

Classes and prize money. Single entry up to five-years-old: 1 £5, 2 £3, 3 £2; Single entry six to 16 years old: 1 £5, 2 £3, 3 £2; Pairs up to 16 years old: 1 £10, 2 £6, 3 £4; Groups (3 and above in number): 1 £15, 2 £10, 3 £8; Wheeled entries (including bikes, pushchairs and wheelchairs): 1 £15, 2 £10, 3 £6; Federation Class, Walking: 1 £12, 2 £8, 3 £6; Federation Class, Motorised: 1 £12, 2 £8, 3 £6.

Rules: The first four classes must not include any wheels; no animal to participate; all children take part at their own risk; if entering more than two South Somerset Federation Carnivals – participants must enter the federation classes; first place winners will receive a cup, which can be held for a year; there will be other cups that can be won; the judges’ decision is final; The Spirit of Carnival Cup is only open to participants in Classes 1-5.

The assembly point is Manor Court Primary School in Chard. Judging starts at 10.45am and all entries need to be present by 10.30am at the latest. Parents should use public car parks and the procession will begin at midday.
