CHARD's dry spell is set to continue over the next five days, with the weather set to remain good through to the weekend.

The Met Office forecast for the South West said: "Any mist or low cloud will clear away this morning. This will leave a dry, breezy, day with patchy cloud and plenty of sunshine. It will feel pleasantly warm inland, but cooler around the coast where it will be windier."

The maximum temperature for today is expected to reach around 19°C.

As for tonight, the Met Office has said that skies will stay largely clear once again, leading to another cool night, with patchy mist or low cloud forming in places later.

Temperatures may drop as low as 7°C.

In the South West Summary for tomorrow, the Met Office have said: "Any mist or low cloud will soon clear leaving a dry day with patchy cloud and plenty of sunshine. By the afternoon it will feel warm in the sunshine."

The temperature is set again to peak at about 19°C.

The five day outlook is very positive as well, with weather expected to remain settled until the weekend although possibly becoming cloudier later. Dry, breezy days with sunny spells will be followed by chilly nights with patchy mist or fog.

There could be some overcast skies sneaking in in the early hours of Thursday morning, although the chance of rain will not rise above 10 per cent.

In travel news, roadworks continue in Chard and West Chinnock, while very slow traffic has been reported on A3088 Eastbound between A303 (Cartgate Roundabout, Stoke sub Hamdon) and Bunford Lane (North Coker).
