HOLYROOD Academy in Chard played host to an Under-11 Girls Football Tournament for its feeder primary schools.
Despite a rainy morning last Monday (September 21, 2015) brilliant sunshine broke through and welcomed the teams and the girls adapted well to the bigger pitches and showed good progress throughout the competition.
A total of five teams, consisting of about 44 girls competed to be the best in our area. Attending schools were Avishayes, Manor Court, Neroche, Redstart and Tatworth.
Tatworth were crowned champions on goal difference having ended the competition on the same number of points as Neroche. Tatworth and Neroche will now go forward to the district finals on November 12, 2015, in Yeovil.
A special mention should go to Holyrood Academy Sixth Form students for officiating - Adam Moore, Mae Knight, Joe Mainwaring and Emil Szydetko.
School sports co-ordinator Jason Hedaux, said: “I was particularly pleased with the level of support that the girls gave each other. Holyrood is proud to encourage competition amongst children and places these events as a major focus for our work over the next year.”
