FERNE Animal Sanctuary celebrated the highlight of its 75th anniversary year with a commemorative Anniversary Ball at the Woodlands Castle on the outskirts of Taunton.
The event was a big success with people enjoying a three-course meal and plenty of entertainment and live music.
The Duchess of Hamilton, a great animal lover, started the Sanctuary – which is based at Wambrook near Chard – back in the early days of the Second World War in 1939.
Seventy-five years later and Ferne’s trustees and supporters decided to commemorate the work she began with an Anniversary Ball at Woodlands Castle which is situated in Ruishton.
The event included a fantastic Grand Draw which had a £1,000 first prize up for grabs kindly donated by Acheson Construction.
Among those at the Ball was well-known film and television actress Susan George.
