HOLYROOD Academy played host to a football tournament for its feeder primary schools earlier this month.
Sunshine welcomed eight teams on Tuesday (September 8, 2015) consisting of approximately 80 pupils to the Academy’s artificial pitch. A fantastic atmosphere was generated by the large number of supporting staff, parents and friends - making the event a huge success.
Winners of the competitions were Chard School for small schools and Manor Court for large schools.
These two teams will now go forward to represent the Holyrood cluster in the South Somerset District Finals to be played on November 12, 2015, at Yeovil Recreation Ground.
A special mention should go to the enthusiastic Holyrood Academy students for officiating matches and encouraging the younger children.
School sports co-ordinator Jason Hedaux, said: “I was particularly pleased with the quality of football being played – this being the first feeder-school event of the year, allowing the children very little practice time!
“Holyrood is proud to encourage competition amongst children and places these events as a major focus for our work over the next year.”
