A yellow weather warning has been issued for Somerset, with heavy rain and possible thunder throughout this afternoon.

In their warning, the Met Office said: "Some localised flooding is possible from fast responding water courses and standing water, this perhaps disrupting travel. Lightning associated with the afternoon showers across East Anglia and SE England will be an additional hazard."

The heavy rain is due to start around 11am and continue until midnight tonight.

The South West summary said: "Cloudy with rain and strong winds quickly spreading in from the south. The rain will be heavy and persistent in places with some coastal gales likely. Drier and brighter conditions will spread in from the west through the evening."

The maximum temperature for Chard is due to be around 13°C.

In tomorrow's forecast, the Met Office have said: "A fairly breezy day with some sunny spells but also scattered blustery, locally heavy, showers, although most places remaining dry. Temperatures will also be slightly below average."

Tomorrow's maximum temperature is set to be around 17°C, while the yellow weather warning is in place until 9am tomorrow.
