Firefighters were mobilised at just before 11pm on Saturday (August 22, 2015) to the incident in Foundry Square.
Officers discovered that a small fire was out by the time they had arrived and had involved a kitchen hob.
But a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “An ambulance was requested to attend to the occupants’ child who may have suffered smoke inhalation.”
The spokesman added: “The cause of the fire was accidental.”
