THE Chardstock Street Fayre is returning in September after a two-year break and is hoping to raise loads of money for various charities.

The fayre on Saturday, September 5, is promising to be even bigger and better than before with a whole host of entertainment for everyone.

The fayre is being organised in conjunction with Chardstock Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club and St Andrew’s Church.

There will be displays of vintage tractors, stationary engines, beautiful classic and competition cars and motorbikes.

There will also be various other displays, street entertainment, dog show, stalls, competitions, exhibitions, food, live music and much, much more.

A fayre spokesman said: “We have a real treat for lovers of jazz standards this year, as we’re joined for a relaxed lunchtime set of soulful jazz tunes by Maggie Reeday and her trio.

“Maggie is one of the country’s finest interpreters of the classic jazz songbook, and her smoky voice lends itself beautifully to heartfelt ballads and blues.

“After starting her musical career as the singer with an Exeter band, Maggie has gone on to work in both television and radio over the years and shared stages with some of the greatest international musicians, including Scott Hamilton, Mark Nightingale, Dave Green and Digby Fairweather.”

The community event will start at 11am and continue on late into the evening.

Admission will be £2.50 for adults and free for children under-16.

The street fayre was first held in 1999 and has gone on to raise almost £50,000 for local charities and organisations.

Proceeds this year’s event will be donated to Hospiscare, ARC Axminster, Cancer Research and other local good causes.

The street fayre organisers are always in need of helpers.
