A TATWORTH teenager who confessed to police he had just bought some drugs at a well known drug dealing location in Chard tried to hide them down his trousers.

The officers saw Macauley Foote bent down by his car and when they searched him found a small bag of white powder down his trousers along with some green vegetable matter in the vehicle.

He admitted possessing the drugs saying he took them to give him a buzz and extra energy.

Foote, 19, of Holway, pleaded guilty to being in possession of 0.88g of amphetamine (class B) and 0.82g of cannabis (class B) at Chard on January 24 when he was in the dock before Somerset Magistrates.

Prosecutor Lucy Coleman told the court at Yeovil that Foote was seen leaving a location in Chard, known for drugs, just before 1am and then bent down near his car.

She said: “After speaking with the police he was detained for a search and a small clear bag containing white powder was found concealed down the front of his trousers.

“A search of his vehicle revealed a small quantity of green vegetable matter and he admitted that both substances belonged to him.”

During interview Foote told police he went to the address to pick up some Meow Meow and bought the white powder for £20 and paid £10 for the cannabis on a previous occasion.

“He said he knew it was a controlled drug and said he took it for the buzz and was aware driving after taking drugs was as dangerous as drinking,” added Miss Coleman.

Defending, Ryan Seneviratne said Foote accepted going to the address to buy a small quantity of drugs and told the police where he had hidden it as soon as they challenged him.

“The cannabis was only enough for two cigarettes and my client has no previous convictions but does use drugs occasionally,” he said.

“He is working as an apprentice electrician and needs to carry on with his life and make something of himself rather than coming back to court.”

The magistrates imposed a 12 month conditional discharge on the defendant and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. A destruction order was also made for the drugs.
