Police would like to hear from witnesses to an assault in Chard at the weekend.

A man was assaulted in Fore Street at around 1.20am on Saturday, May 16.

The victim was walking along eating a portion of chips when he was approached by four males.

One member of the group was said to have punched the victim a couple of times because he would not give him a chip.

The suspect is described as around 18 years old, 6ft with blonde hair, clean shaven, wearing a blue shirt with white dots and beige shorts.

The suspect was believed to have come from The Cerdic pub.
