Chard's guides need your help - could you get involved?

Due to other commitments, the Chard Guides are losing three leaders and are calling on locals to get involved.

The organisation is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK, creating amazing opportunities for thousands of girls around the country.

Guiding can only happen thanks to more than 100,000 volunteers from all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities.

The group says it is flexible and volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle. You can volunteer to help out with: Rainbows aged five to seven, Brownies aged seven to 10 , Guides aged 10 to 14 and The Senior Section aged 14 to 26.

Volunteering with Girlguiding is about more than just giving something back to your local community. Volunteers certainly do that, but whether it’s for a few hours a year or every week, people who work in guiding feel truly rewarded.

Charlotte Rogers from the group said: “Whether you want to develop skills to support your career or are just passionate about helping girls fulfil their potential, by volunteering with us you’ll work closely with girls and young women, offering them support and guidance at crucial stages in their lives.

“All kinds of people volunteer with Girlguiding, so it’s a great opportunity to meet new people, while making a real contribution to the community.

“Volunteering is about more than just giving something back to your local community. Our volunteers certainly do that, but whether it’s for a few hours a year or every week, people who work with us feel truly rewarded.

“Whether you’re working as a leader, providing marketing or administrative support, or teaching girls a skill, through volunteering you can put your talents to good use.

“In Chard we have seven units across all the age groups in Guiding with over 120 girls and we are looking for more adult volunteers.”
