YEW Tree Cottage Residential Home in Chard has won an award for being a top recommended care home in the South West.

The home came seventh out of 2,318 homes in the region. The top 20 South West homes received an award from the leading guide to care homes carehome.co.uk

The award was based on the home's recommendations from their residents, plus friends and relatives of residents and Yew Tree is the top recommended home in the Chard area.

Davina Ludlow, director of carehome.co.uk, said: "We felt the best people to say how good a care home really is, are the residents and their families and friends. Their recommendations show the warmth and excellent care that exists in so many care homes.

"Yew Tree Cottage has proved that it provides great care and we'd like to congratulate it on being a top recommended home in the South West. It's a fantastic achievement to be recognised for being a highly recommended home from the people you care for.

"The care home will be named on carehome.co.uk as a top rated home and will receive a certificate."

Owners Sarah and Graham Ambridge said: "Our aim has always been to try and provide the best possible care and attention for all our residents and in fact, anyone who comes through our doors.

"We are a very happy, relaxed but professional establishment and we have excellent staff who really have a passion for the work they do.

"Our residents are fabulous too, most have been with us for many years, and they really consider Yew Tree Cottage their home.

"The two lovely terriers who roam the home help us maintain a real homely environment; it also helps that we live onsite.

"We are only registered for five clients which means we can truly provide individual care and get out and about as much as we wish.

"To celebrate winning the award again we will be having a garden party and open house, in our glorious grounds in June, when all our friends and families, past and present residents will get together and celebrate in true Yew Tree Cottage style."
