Fire crews were called to a block of flats at Manor Close in Chard last night responding to reports of water streaming through a man's ceiling.
Fire Control recieved a call from the police control room at around 8.40pm who had in turn been contacted by a member of the public who claimed that there was water coming through his ceiling and into his flat from an unoccupied flat above.
A fire service spokesman said: "As it was believed that the water would also be effecting his electrics leading to a fire risk, a fire engine from Chard was sent immediately to assist and make his property safe.
"While in attendance, crews managed to gain entry into the above flat isolating the water and the electrics and made both properties safe. A local electrician was then called out and the property was left in the care of the owner."
